  • How do I use Eduwizards to find the right tutor?

  • Does Eduwizards provide Home Tutoring or Online Tutoring?
    • We have tutors for both Face-to-Face Home Tutoring as well an Online Tutoring. Eduwizards does not prefer one type of tutoring over the other and it is for the student/parent to decide which one they prefer.

  • What kind of tutors does Eduwizards have?
    • To join Eduwizards a tutor must have a Bachelor's degree or higher. Eduwizards features India's best tutors, ranked and reviewed by students. We believe the most effective way of identifying top tutors is by actual review of tutors by students and parents. Tutor details including Profile, Experience and Reviews are openly posted for all to see.

  • What is the cost of a tuition session?
    • Tutors set their own hourly tuition fee. Tutor Search shows you a tutor's hourly charges for tuition along with profile, reviews and other details.

  • How does Online Tutoring work?
    • For online tutoring student and tutor connect over the internet. Online Tutoring takes place using our virtual classroom, which includes whiteboard, text chat, and voice communication. At the time of session, student and tutor click a button to join each other in the virtual classroom. For online tutoring all you need is an internet connection – high speed (broadband), a computer microphone, and computer speakers. We recommend computer headset with microphone.   • How do I select a tutor and book a session?
    • Do Tutor Search to see a list of available tutors for your subject. Select your tutor and click the “Book Tuition” button. (This will take you to Student Login page if you are not already logged in). Select date, time and duration of tuition session. Fill in any additional info and click on “Book Tuition” button.

  • How long are tutoring sessions?
    • When you Book (Schedule) a session you choose the length of the session. Our experience shows that the traditional one hour time works best. In addition you can add any multiple of half hour when making the appointment, so sessions can be: 1 hour, 1 ˝ hour etc. Online Tutoring also has an Instant (On Demand) Tutoring option which is charged by the minute.

  • How do I take an Instant (On Demand) Online Tutoring session with a tutor?
    • Login to your student account (If you do not have a student account Sign Up to create one). Once logged in, on the menu at the left choose and click "Request New Session." Follow the steps to see a list of available tutors for your subject. You will also see which tutors are currently online and ready to take Instant Tutoring sessions. From these you can choose a tutor, click on a tutor's name to view his/her details and then click the "Contact Live" button. You can have a free pre-session chat with tutor(s), and then (if you choose) instantly start a paid session with the tutor. Charges are by the minute once you click "Hire."

  • How do I make payment for a session?
    • Funds can be added by Credit/Debit Card, Electronic transfer from your bank, Cheque or Cash deposit into our bank (ICICI), mailing a Cheque or Draft to our address or we can do a Cash Pickup from your home. The details of how you can go about each of these will be visible within your student account. Added funds will remain in your account as Credit Balance and will be spent when you choose to use them for a paid tutoring session. Funds in Credit Balance can be withdrawn at any time.

  • Do I need to have money in my account before I take a tutoring session?
    • Yes. For a paid tutoring session you must have funds in your account to cover the cost of the session. Funds are held in your account and once the session has taken place they are transferred out of your student account and the tutor is paid.

      We also offer Free Trials. To limit free trials to one per student you must verify identity by transferring at least Rs. 100 to your student Credit Balance. Free trial sessions are of course, absolutely free, and no deductions will ever be made from any credit balance you have in your account.

      You can Add Funds to your student account by logging in, going to My Account, choosing My Transactions and then clicking the Add Funds button at the bottom.

  • Does Eduwizards offer any guarantee?
    • Eduwizards offers students/parents a Good Fit Guarantee with their tutor. You don't pay for your first session with an Eduwizards tutor unless you are fully satisfied. For any support, customer care is available 24x7.

  • What if the subject I want is not listed or it does not have enough choice of tutors?
    • We can add any new subject there is demand for. Please write to student@eduwizards.com. We are always signing up new tutors and can find specific tutors for any subject(s) you want.

  • How do I become a tutor?
    • To tutor at Eduwizards you need a Bachelor's degree or higher. Your knowledge of the subject must be thorough and you should plan to teach only the subject(s) you know best. Anyone with these basic qualifications is welcome to open an account as a tutor, and browse and understand how our website works. To apply to become a tutor you must submit your Educational documents and fill in and submit your Profile for approval. Tutors whose profiles are approved are ready to tutor on our website. Only selected tutors will be approved. We reserve the right to verify any information in your Resume, Educational Documents, or Profile from third parties and to administer to you any Subject(s) or other test/interview at any time (before or after profile approval). At any time we can deactivate a tutor, at our sole discretion, for any reason or for no reason at all.

  • What are the charges to sign up and earn money as a tutor with Eduwizards?
    • There are no charges to sign up and to have your submitted profile approved. Our basic model is to keep a percentage of the tutor's earnings as a "transaction fee." We do not charge tutors until they get paid by students for tutoring sessions.

  • How much is the transaction fee?
    • The transaction fee the company keeps is mainly a fraction of the fees you earn from students. The fee is less for the active tutors continuing with same student.

  • Why is there a transaction fee and, as a tutor, what do I get in return for this fee?
    • Our biggest cost is advertising (internet search engines, advertisements in various web, print and other media as well as individual schools/colleges). We want to continue to spend heavily on advertising to bring students to our site and become India's leading tutoring website. Other costs are website related costs including software team, customer care, bandwidth, payments processing, administrative/personnel costs, and miscellaneous other costs which keep popping up. Most importantly, for your fee we bring you paying students to tutor. Further, openly posted students reviews allow talented tutors to distinguish themselves.

  • How do I get paid?
    • Eduwizards processes all payments, offering students flexible payment options while ensuring that you, the tutor, receive immediate payment on completion of your tutoring session. Student must have money in their student account before taking a session, and this money is locked when student books a session. After a completed lesson, simply mark the session completed; Eduwizards will deduct Eduwizards' transaction fee, and transfer your payment to your tutor account. From your tutor account money can be transferred to your bank account via NEFT and this transaction will be at no cost to you.

  • Is this in-person or online tutoring?
    • Both! You will be able to offer students in-person as well as online tutoring.

  • What is required for Online Tutoring?
    • You must have a reliable broadband connection, a personal computer/laptop, headset with microphone and power-backup. Of course, you must have a space for yourself where you are not disturbed and student is able to hear your voice clearly (without any background noise).

  • What is required for (Face-to-face) Home Tutoring?
    • Face to face tuition can be planned at student or tutor's home. Tuition place must be quiet, clean and equipped with table and chairs.

  • How do I submit my profile for approval?
    • First create a tutor account by visiting http://www.eduwizards.com/india/tutor-registration.php. Enter your name, e-mail address, password and mobile number. Once you are logged into your account, choose "Work Preferences" from the menu on the left. Then fill in your address and other personal information. Then attach your photograph, photo ID, educational documents and fill your personal statement and educational background in your "Profile" section and submit your profile for approval.

  • How will I know I have been approved to join Eduwizards?
    • After you login and submit your Profile, your Profile page will also show you the status of your submitted Profile. We will review your information and you will receive an email/SMS once your profile is approved or disapproved.

  • What training do I need before I can take an online session?
    • Prior to first online session you must be familiar with the whiteboard/voice software. Individual tutors, once their profiles are approved, will receive information regarding training to use the whiteboard/voice software. They must contact itutor@eduwizards.com for any questions regarding such training. The software is user-friendly and easy to learn, and it requires no tech knowledge.

  • How does tutoring work and how does a student find me among all the tutors who have signed up with Eduwizards?
    • At Eduwizards tutors independently manage their own tutoring business. They decide what hours to tutor, which subjects to tutor, and what price to charge for each subject. Students search for tutors by selecting their Class Level, then the general Subject Area, and finally the Specific Subject. Approved tutors who have signed up for that Specific Subject will appear in the search along with information about them including student reviews and tutor's hourly charges. The tutors with the best reviews will appear first. A student can select a tutor and Book (Schedule) a session for a future time. In case of Online Tutoring student can also take an Instant (On Demand) tutoring session with a tutor who is currently online. After each session the student has the option of reviewing a tutor by giving a review score of 1 to 5 stars as well as text comments.

  • What happens after a student Books (Schedules) a tutoring appointment session with a tutor?
    • When students Book a session they state the class, subject and exact topic within the subject that they would like help with. They also select whether the request is for a paid session or for a free half an hour trial(if tutor offers free trials), and select the length of the requested session for home or online tutoring. An email/SMS is sent to the tutor stating that a request for a session has been made. The tutor must then login to his/her account and choose "My Requests" from the menu to accept the request. A tutor can review a request for a tutoring session and can accept or decline the request for a session (in case tutor declines the session the student is not entitled to give a review since no appointment was made). A tutor is always expected to accept unless there are exceptional circumstances. Once a session is accepted by a tutor a confirmation email/SMS is sent to the student. If it is a home tutoring session, the tutor should make sure that the session starts on time. In case of online tutoring the tutor must login to his tutor account no later than the session start time to take the session.

  • What do I need to succeed as a tutor at Eduwizards?
    • To begin with you must have a thorough knowledge of your subject. That alone is not enough. You must be able to generate great reviews from students and for this you must have the qualities of a good teacher. For online sessions; you must have a fast and reliable internet connection and must have thoroughly practiced with and understood the tutoring software. You must never be late or miss a session. Students can cancel sessions, but tutors cannot. If for any reason a session does not go well you can inform the student that you will not charge for the session and use "Dismiss Charge" in "My billings" in your tutor account. Students review a tutor after each session and a bad review score or negative comments will be permanently archived in your tutoring record. A mediocre tutor will not prosper at Eduwizards, since the system is set up to pick out and reward the best.

  • As a new tutor how do I distinguish myself and make a start?
    • As a first step, you must make a profile which clearly brings out your qualifications and experience, and which overall is attractive to students.
      Eduwizards aims to openly indentify the best tutors, openly ranked and reviewed by students. After each tutoring session a student has the option of giving a review score of 1 to 5 stars as well as text comments. Tutors distinguish themselves by student satisfaction as shown by excellent reviews from students.
      Tutors have the option of giving the student an initial free session; this is a way for new tutors to begin getting reviews.

  • What times should I make myself available for tutoring?
    • We expect that a large number of our students will be from India. In India many schools operates on morning and afternoon shifts. Tutoring session can be planned based on student availability during weekdays and weekends.

      If the student is from the USA, you should definitely include times at which USA students would take tutoring. When school is on, students take tutoring during the evenings and on weekends.

  • What prices should I charge?
    • See what other tutors are charging for a particular subject. Certain subjects command a higher hourly price. Tutors with highest ratings by students are able to charge more. When choosing a price keep in mind what you will get in your pocket after the Eduwizards transaction fee, and decide accordingly.

An Eduwizards' staff member will review your application and respond to you within 24-48 hours.

  • How do I get approval of my subjects?
    • During registration or later when you select subject(s) for tutoring Eduwizards Subject Matter Expert (SME) gets the request to do an evaluation of your subject(s) expertise. SME will schedule a meeting with you to assess your knowledge on a subject and in some cases SME may give a short test to evaluate your knowledge. After evaluation SME will approve or disapprove the subject for tutoring. Eduwizards reserves the right of approving/disapproving tutor's subject(s) for tutoring.

      Once disapproved for a subject, you can reapply for the same subject only after 6 months of your last evaluation.

  • How does Eduwizards help me get new students?

Having a profile on Eduwizards makes it easy for students and parents to find and contact you through a trusted, secure marketplace. Additionally, Eduwizards will notify you of new tutoring jobs in your area every day.

  • What I need to confirm before I start a session with student?
    • When a student books a session (home or online) with you will see student's Class/level, Specific Subject and Topic (which is an additional text description available to student to give exact detail to tutor before the session). You must review the material you will be providing tutoring for, if necessary, so you are fully prepared.

  • May I tutor students I find outside of the Eduwizards system?
    • Yes, any tutoring you do through Eduwizards is independent of tutoring opportunities you find through other means. Any tuitions you provide to students you find through Eduwizards must always be logged in the system, however.

  • What is Monthly Plan Program?
    • Many students in classes I-VIII like to pay the tutor a Monthly Fee for a fixed number of hours of tutoring per month. They want the tutor to teach on a fixed weekly schedule and to cover multiple subjects. Monthly Plan allows the tutor to offer a Monthly Fee for a fixed number of hours per week and to list the subjects tutor will cover in the Monthly Plan Program making yourself available for this plan you can sign up students looking for a complete month of tutoring. You can set your Monthly Fee for for 3hrs/week, 4 hrs/week and 5 hrs/week.

  • How can you make yourself available for Monthly Plan Program?
    • On your account page you can check the box for Monthly Plan and then from there you can go to "Monthly Plan" to fill the subject(s) and price you want to offer for monthly plan.

  • How will a student contact you for monthly plan?
    • Monthly Plan details filled by you will be displayed on website on your tutor profile page. From there student can send request for monthly session booking with you stating price and tutoring schedule. You will receive a SMS and the request will be visible in your Eduwizards tutor account on Tuition Requests page.

  • How will you respond to any monthly plan request sent by student?
    • You can Accept or Decline the request from tuition requests page of your Eduwizards tutor account. If you Decline you must give reasons such as Price or Schedule not being suitable and these reasons will be visible to Eduwizards staff (but not to student).

  • What you need to make sure before Accepting monthly plan request?
    • While Accepting leave a Note for Staff if there are any questions regarding Tutoring Schedule or Offered Price.
      • Check requested schedule carefully to make sure there is no overlapping of session times. If it is there an overlap leave a note for staff while Accepting. Also check the Start Date that student has requested and that you are ready to start tutoring on that date.
      • Carefully check price student has offered for the Monthly Tutoring. If student has negotiated on price, then this will be clearly visible to you. Accepting will be considered agreeing to the price student has offered .
      • Check that you are comfortable with the student special request for different subjects while Accepting monthly plan request, since student can ask for additional subjects beyond those you listed.
      • Earnings will be transferred per session, after each session is completed by you.

  • What if you are not sure whether to Accept or Decline Monthly Plan Request?
    • Leave a note for staff explaining your concern or question.

  • What will happen after accepting the request for Monthly Plan from student?
    • As soon as you Accept the request student will be informed that you are ready for the Monthly plan.
      When student makes payment then session will be automatically booked for the various weekly times the student asked for in request. Earnings will be transferred per session on completion of each session.

  • What if you want to decline the monthly plan request?
    • Eduwizards prefer not to decline any monthly request, but in case due to unavoidable reasons you want to decline, then you can do it from tuition request page of your tutor account but mentioning the reason before decline will be compulsory. Note that you have the option to leave a note for staff instead of Declining. If you Decline staff will open the Request to other tutors.

  • How will I get paid for Monthly Plan Program?
    • Earnings will be transferred per session, after each session is completed by you. When you have accepted the Monthly plan your earnings (after deduction of Eduwizards Transaction Fee) will be visible in front of each booked session. These will be transferred to you when you mark the session(s) as Completed.

  • Can I have online lessons using tablet?
    • If you have Chrome browser installed, you will be able to start a lesson using your tablet. However, we would recommend you use a laptop or desktop for best performance.

  • What browser do I need?
    • For the best tutoring experience with voice, Eduwizards recommends Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

  • Can both student and tutor write on the whiteboard at the same time?
    • Yes, both student and tutor may write simultaneously on the whiteboard. They can use different colors for their writing to easily identify the text.

  • How do I communicate with my tutor?
    • The online tutoring class features a chat interface and an interactive whiteboard with voice. Both student and tutor can use these tools to communicate. Users can type, draw freehand or scribble on the whiteboard.

  • Why isn’t my audio working?
    • To begin voice (audio) communication, you are needed to click button “Web Call” in the whiteboard. If your audio is not working then you will need to check if your speakers and microphone are connected and on.

  • Can I share files from my computer and work on them?
    • Yes, you can share files from your computer and open and work on the file in the whiteboard interface. This means student and tutor both can work together on a file. Click the icon on the right side of the toolbar of whiteboard and select the document you want to share from your computer. We accept the following file types: PNG, JPG, GIF, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX, PDF.

  • Can I work on lined or graph paper on the Whiteboard?
    • Yes. Just click the Graph Paper icon to the right of the Text tool to choose a new overlay for the Whiteboard.

  • How do I look through previous Whiteboards and add new ones?
    • To see your Whiteboards, you may click the arrows in the bottom left corner of the interface. To add a new blank Whiteboard, click the "+" icon button at the bottom left of the Classroom.

  • Can I print transcripts of my session?
    • Yes, you can capture the whiteboard at any point of time and print the transcripts. You can also review and print the session later by going to your Account page and viewing your previous sessions.

  • Can I record my tutoring session?
    • All sessions are automatically recorded and saved in your account for future review. You may review them at any point of time.
